Moon Medicine Rising Program

The Moon Medicine Rising Program is a program that provides services to women who have or are exiting the sex trade and/or who are survivors of sexual exploitation. The women have access to weekly individual counselling, weekly groups and life-skills workshops, cultural ceremonies and Elder support. We work with women from a culturally safe, harm reductionist, anti-oppressive lens supporting them in their recovery in whatever way they choose to heal.

Therapeutic Group Workshops
Participants learn about recovery, how to recognize triggers and healthy ways to cope. Participants will have access to Elders for cultural teachings and ceremonies. Participants can also share struggles and victories in a safe place, learning to express feelings in a variety of ways including art, music, and movement.

Individual Counselling
Participants receive crisis counselling and can explore goal setting.

Basic Needs and Life Skills Supports
Participants obtain basic needs and learn to write resumes, search for jobs, and advocate for self, and have access to harm reduction supplies.

Mentorship Opportunities
Upon completion, participants can mentor other participants in our workshops and work volunteer hours that can be listed on their resume.
